News from Leslie & Shakti Fusion

After experiencing a rewarding eight year relationship with Makin’ Moves Studio, I’m deeply saddened to announce that we will be parting ways. Sharply increasing costs of rent in this neighbourhood generally have made it impossible for any independent instructor to afford the space (let alone, for the owner to rent it to us at a loss), and thus a transition will emerge.

We are grateful to both the previous owner, Erin, and the current owner, Michelle, for accommodating Shakti fusion and supporting Tribal fusion belly dance through its establishment in Ottawa, for being wonderful to work with, and for creating a welcoming community space, and we encourage dancers to support this unique studio space and its ongoing courses.

For the moment, I’ll be focusing on completing my graduate studies and running a few workshops, before searching for a new long term home in the downtown Ottawa area. In the meantime, I encourage all our past and present students to keep up your practice and keep an eye on this list for information on our upcoming events
