Belly Dance – Level 1

Explore fluidity, grace, and strength through this ancient and sensuous dance form developed in the Middle East. The fundamentals of posture, isolations, steps and accents of belly dance are stressed.

    Jalilah’s Winter 2018 Classes

    6:15 PM: NEW! Let’s Raqs!
    This dance class is a full body workout designed for students with minimal to  no bellydance experience, as well as those with dance experience who want to strengthen their foundation skills. The age old movements will help harmonize and energize your body, improve your stamina,flexibility and posture,reduce stress and boost your mood. Express yourself as you learn foundational techniques and signature bellydance moves through a fun and fitness approach!

    Thursday 7:30-9 PM Advanced Using both traditional and modern music from Egypt,the Levant and Turkey this class is a combination of technique,free improvisation and choreography. Having learned from and performed professionally for the people of the cultures this dance comes from, Jalilah conveys the joy, beauty and elegance of classical Raqs Sharqi in her classes.

    American Tribal Style® BellyDance Class

    REGISTER EARLY – MINIMUM REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY JANUARY 12 FOR CLASS TO PROCEED
    ATS® Dance Fundamentals & Beyond:
    This fun class will introduce you to the basic steps & phrases of American Tribal Style® bellydance. We will follow the FatChanceBellyDance® format while learning correct dance posture, fast and slow hip, arm, and torso movements & shimmies. We will also touch on ATS® dance formations, where we will dance with partners and groups. Returning dancer’s will continue to build on previously learned material & be encouraged to build confidence with leading & cues. Each class will include a Gratitude Meditation, a review of previous movements, and a breakdown & drill of slow and fast movements.

    We will also introduce zills ( finger cymbals) which are part of the ATS experience.

    No previous dance experience required. Open to those 18+ of all shapes & sizes who are looking for a fun new experience! Smiles are required!!!

  2. Congrats to all involved. As a performer I liked the lights panning the audience , made it less of a BLACK VOID. As an audience member I thought the decor was nice, the sound was good , the intros to the point with little down time between numbers. As always a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in Belly Dance, and it’s many offshoot fusion styles, to strut their stuff. The atmosphere was relaxed and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
